Solar dyeing is a hands-on dye form that combines the magic of nature, sunlight, and creativity. This process uses a solar-reactive, non-toxic vat dye that applies almost clear then transforms before your eyes, changing color as it bonds to natural fabric under sunlight, usually within just 10–15 minutes. (It happens quickly!)
Prepared Item to Dye: Choose a Silk Eye Mask or Silk Scarf 21in x 21in Soft, shiny, and perfect as a luxurious accessory
A variety of pressed seasonal botanicals (many foraged from my own garden )
Custom color Solar Dye 4oz, enough to dye the item and extra
Instruction guide
Additional botanicals: Collect plants from your local neighborhood or use a bouquet meaningful to you.
Sunlight: Although the process works on cloudy days too!
Indoor shaded space, sewing pins (or rocks) to secure your botanicals, cardboard or foam mat, brushes, and glass jars for dye application.
