Solar dyeing is a soothing process that uses botanicals and sunlight to infuse fabric with rich, natural colors. Much like cyanotype printing but with the possibility of achieving a full rainbow of shades, it’s an opportunity to slow down, connect, and create something uniquely your own. As the colors develop, each piece becomes a keepsake capturing the memory of your time together and the joy of trying something new.
1.5-hour guided solar dyeing workshop experience
45-minute pre-event setup to transform your space
All materials and tools provided, including botanicals, solar dyes, and take-home containers (all sizes) with care instructions
Flexible setup, works in any space (can be indoors or outdoors)
Suitable for both sunny and cloudy days
Minimum of 4 guests required to reserve a party (workshops start at $80 for a group of 4)
Additional guests: $20 per person
Clothing to Dye: Each guest is welcome to bring one natural fiber item such as a cotton t-shirt, linen top, silk scarf, rayon dress, jeans, or a tote bag. Light colored fabric, such as white or cream work best. (Synthetic fabrics like polyester will not take the dye.) Additional items or larger garments (sweatshirts, full pant legs, etc.) can be included for $10 each
What to Wear: Solar dyeing is hands-on and may get a little messy. We recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind getting a splash of color on, I provide aprons and gloves for extra protection. Comfortable shoes are also a good idea if you’ll be moving around the dyeing stations.
Optional Accessories: Hats, sunglasses, or sunscreen - we will be outdoors—solar dyeing pairs beautifully with sunshine!
A 50% deposit is not required to reserve your event. You can choose pay half or in whole the day of the event.
