I made these in the summertime using the plants growing right around me, foraged right here in my city neighborhood. I used a variety of color solar dyes and the sunglow in my backspace to bring them to life.

I started saying this phrase that just wouldn’t leave me:
The world may be on fire, but our clothes don’t have to be.

The whole process took about thirty minutes and honestly it was deeply calming. I was having a really rough week. I had just lost someone close to me, and I’d been in a series of car accidents…..yes, a series!
I needed something to ground me back into my body.

These pants were stained. Instead of discarding them, I transformed them. I gave them new life. Now, every time I wear these pants, people ask me about them. They’re an instant connection. An instant joy. This piece reminds me that even in loss, beauty can still grow.
